The Eisenhowers is not so much a band, more a loose collection of people making a noise with musical instruments.
The music they play is an eclectic and adult-oriented mix, inspired by the likes of Aimee Mann, Jellyfish, Crowded House, Elvis Costello, XTC, Jimmy Webb and REM.
Songwriter Raymond has built up a huge backlog of material and the debut album Almost half-undressed is — in effect — a compilation drawn from several abandoned album projects, launched earlier in the century before sinking in the cruel sea of abandoned hopes. It features 12 literate, punchy and thoughtful songs about sex, celebrity, love, money, parenthood and serial killers.
All members of The Eisenhowers collective are politically aware and very much focused on the important issues of the day. We guarantee that at least 20% of the proceeds from album sales will be used to buy girlie mags and alcohol.
